IGNOU Promote Students - IGNOU Promote Intermediate Year/Semester UG & PG Programme Students

IGNOU Promote Students:- Modalities for promotion of the Intermediate Year/Semester Students of UG and PG Programmes in the June 2020 examinations.

The Academic Council of the University, in its 75th meeting vide Item No.23.3 held on 18 November 2020, has approved the Modalities for promotion of the Intermediate Year/Semester students of UG and UG Programmes in the June 2020 examinations. The details are below:

1. This provision for exemption from TEE (June 2020) for intermediate semester / Year Students will be applicable to only those students who have registered/re-registered in academic session (2019-20) as per the following details:

2. This provision will not be applicable to the following Programmes, which are offered through MoU/ Collaboration with external agencies or approved from regulatory bodies or professional in nature:

BED, BLIS, MLIS, BHM, MHA, BSC(N), BCOMAF, BCOMCAA, BCOMFCA, BBA (Services Management), MCOMMAFS, MCOMFT, MCOMBPCG.

Under Graduate Programmes:

(1) The 1st year students registered in July 2019 will be exempted from appearing in TEE of 1st year in June 2020. The term -end marks / grades in the 1st year courses will be assigned on the basis of the marks / grades obtained in TEE of 2nd year courses.

(2) The 2nd year students re-registered in July 2019 admission cycle will be exempted from appearing in TEE of 2nd year in June 2020. The term-end marks / grades in the 2nd Year courses will be assigned on the basis of the marks / grades obtained in TEE 1st year courses.

(3) The Students of CBCS UG Programmes registered in July 2019 will be exempted from appearing in the Term-end Examinations of 1st year (1st and 2nd semesters) in June 2020. The term-end marks / grades in the 1st year (1st and 2nd Semesters) courses will be assigned on the basis of marks / grades obtained in TEE of 2nd Year (3rd and 4th semesters) courses.

(4) For BCA, students of intermediate semesters re-registered in January 2020 will be exempted from appearing in TEE of their respective intermediate semesters in June 2020. The marks / grades in TEE of respective intermediate semesters will be assigned on the basis of marks / grades obtained in TEE of previous / subsequent (as the case may be) semesters.

Post Graduate Programmes:

(1) For PG Programmes, the students of 1st year registered in July 2019 will be exempted from appearing in the TEE of the 1st year in June 2020. The term-end marks / grades in the 1st year courses will be assigned on the basis of marks / grades obtained in the TEE of 2nd year courses.

(2) For MCA, students of intermediate semesters re-registered in January 2020 will be exempted from appearing in TEE of their respective intermediate semesters in June 2020. The marks / grades in TEE of respective intermediate semesters will be assigned on the basis of marks / grades obtained in the TEE of previous / subsequent (as the case may be) semesters.

(3) For MBA / MBA (B & F), students of intermediate semesters re-registered in January 2020 may be exempted from appearing in TEE of their respective semesters in June 2020. The marks / grades in TEE of respective intermediate semesters will be assigned on the basis of marks / grades obtained in TEE of previous / subsequent (as the may be) semesters.

3. The students of UG and PG Programmes, who do not want to be promoted as per the above guidelines, they can appear for Term-end Examinations in February 2021 and there after, subject to fulfilling other eligibility conditions.

4. The University may revise these guidelines from time to time depending upon the prevailing circumstances due to COVID-19 pandemic.

5. The exemption from appearing in TEE of intermediate semester / year of UG and PG Programmes is restricted to the total number of courses registered / re-registered in the respective semester / year for TEE June 2020.

6. For MBA and MBA (B & F), the exemption from appearing in TEE of intermediate semester is restricted to a maximum of five courses and four courses respectively for TEE June 2020. The exemption is not applicable to MS-100.

7. The University will make provision in the online submission of TEE form for those students, who do not want to be promoted as per the above guidelines and want to appear for Term-end Examinations in February 2021.

Vide SED Notification dated 30th July 2020, it is reiterated that in the ODL system, the students of intermediate year/semesters are admitted in to the next year/ semesters through re-registration even without appearing for examination, provided they have filled re-registration form for the next year/semesters. Also, it does not require that s/he has successfully passed all or a majority of courses, s/se has registered / opted in a year/semester.

The other details regarding the exemption criteria, exam form submission, fee etc will intimated through a separate notification.
